First up, I usually average watching about 2 Lifetime movies a day either on LMN or Lifetime, so I hearby call myself a LifetimeMovieAddikt. ;)
This revelation came to me as I played on televisionwithoutpity's TV Movie Thread and two different people wondered about 3 separate TVMs. Turns out, I got all three of the films right and I realized at that moment, that I'm obsessed with Lifetime without truly knowing it.
I guess my Top 5 that I have to watch each time they are on: (SPOILERS BELOW)
5."Life of Judy Garland - Me and My Shadows" - Powerful look at JG's life. Tammy Blanchard was totally ripped off an Emmy for her performance as young Judy and Judy Davis was more than deserving of her win for adult Judy. It's so sad seeing how difficult JG's life was and seeing Hugh Laurie before he was on "House" is always wonderful.
4."A Family of Strangers" (Melissa Gilbert and Patty Duke) - Really depressing story of a woman who finds out she's adopted after finding out she needs major brain surgery. She sets out to find her real parents and the mystery begins. Patty Duke was amazing in the scenes in the attic and woods.
3."The Killing Secret" - (Ari Meyers, Tess Harper, Soleil Moon Frye): Poor girl gets involved with rich boy and finds out she's pregnant. Turns out he has a rich girlfriend as well. When the poor girl ends up dead, the rich girlfriend finds decides to help out the poor girl's mother (who she poured tea on earlier in the film) and soon discovers the "killing secret". It sounds cheesy and partly is, but it was great trying to see who was going to be the one who really discovered who the killer was.
2. "A Woman Scorned: The Betty Broderick Story" and "Her Final Fury: The Betty Broderick Story" - (Meredith Baxter and Stephen Collins): I'm counting them as one since they are usually shown back to back within 24 hours of each other. MB is so believable as BB that anytime I've seen her since they first aired in 1992, I totally think of her as BB (which I'm sure MB would be thrilled at). Best Scene Ever: The SUV through the front door. I watch this every time it comes on and it still amazes me that this all happened. Plus, BB is supposed to be up for parole in March 2010.
1. "A Killer Among Friends" (Patty Duke, Loretta Swit, Tiffani {when she was still Tiffani-Amber} Theissan and Margaret Welsh): Sadly, I've probably seen this based on a true story about 50 times and it kills me each time. I even broke down and bought the book of the murder the story was based on. If there could be a best part to this story it's the end meeting of PD and MW's characters. Also, the scene were TAT is screaming at the pond makes me cry every time especially after reading the book.
